ABI is the largest network of academic business incubators in Europe. As such, it provides pro-innovative services and promotes entrepreneurial attitudes among young Poles. ABI implement social and business programmes on a local and national scale, cooperates with the best and brightest Polish entrepreneurs and helps develop an innovative market economy in Poland. Its mission is to lead young Poles on a road towards entrepreneurship and to provide them with a better future of limitless potential in their own country.
Since its inception in 2004, Academic Business Incubators have helped prepare over 3000 start-ups to enter the Polish market.
At present over 1100 companies benefit from the services provided by ABI, having generated in total a 24 000 000 profit as of the end of October 2009. Among them are projects with high technological potential, such as Apeiron RD - the owner of several patents granting exclusive rights to a unique accelerator which enables and facilitates chemical processes used in the production of medicinal drugs.
ABI also cooperate with companies, the business model of which is based on the knowledge of their respective founders, among others Sunshine Profits, an English language web-portal created by a Ph.D. candidate of one of the universities of Warsaw, whose largest income is generated in the process of conducting analyses of the precious metals sector for individual and institutional investors.
A large percentage of companies in their preincubation period belongs to the services sector and the IT sector in its most broad definition. Each enterprise implements unique resources that its competitors are unable to imitate, sharpening its competitive edge, paving the way for rapid development and ensuring the success of each project.
ABI have developed pro-innovative services at the highest level of quality - in April of 2009, ABI were the first organisation of its kind to pass the quality control audit and receive the ISO 9001:2000 standards certificate.

Furthermore, ABI became a member of the National Innovation Network (Krajowa Sieć Innowacji), which consists of institutions providing pro-innovative services for small and medium-sized enterprises (MSP) in the standards of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). In 2007, the preincubation system has been nominated by the Polish Government for the European Enterprise Awards - ABI were selected on the grounds of being the best initiative in favour of entrepreneurship development in Poland.
Awards
ProStudent 2009
In 2009, the Students' Parliament of the Republic of Poland has granted the Academic Business Incubators Foundation the student communities' ProStudent award for its incessant development of student-oriented services pertaining to academic entrepreneurship.
European Enterprise Awards
On December 6th, 2007, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland has nominated Academic Business Incubators for the European Enterprise Awards.
Minister of Economy Recognition
In October of 2007, Academic Business Incubators have been recognised by the Polish Minister of Economy for their innovativeness in promoting entrepreneurship.
2005 Student Initiative Award
In 2005, the Students' Parliament of the Republic of Poland has granted Academic Business Incubators the Student Initiative Award for the best initiative for attendees of academic institutions.
